Bible obedienceJesus replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” – Luke 11:28 NIV

Obeying the Word is easier said than done. The above scripture appears to be common sense: obey the Word of God when you hear it because you will be blessed. Who does not want to be blessed? I sure do, so anything that guarantees blessings should be a piece of cake. Wrong! While it sounds good, it is not that easy, because the world is filled with many pleasures that avert our attention from God daily.

In order to take hold of the Word and obey it, we must be intentional each waking day to start with the Word and keep our mind stayed on the Word. We are to get up praising God and asking the Lord to guide our feet while we run this race called life. While we may hear the Father clearly during our devotional time in the morning, as soon as we step out into the world, there will be many competing voices. Stand firm and do not let your attention be averted from God’s Holy Word.
